"Through the Orange Leaves"
Barnafoss is a moderately-popular waterfall in Iceland, which means that absolutely no one else was there when I visited at midnight.
Despite its beauty and complexity, Barnafoss is rarely photographed in ways other than head-on. Though such an image is nice, the area around this waterfall offers many more photographic opportunities.
By framing the water in golden leaves, I changed the appearance of Barnafoss into something new: a hidden waterfall behind a brightly-colored forest.
Photography offers an artist the ability to play with reality — to isolate aspects of a scene to deliver a new sight to viewers. This photograph of Barnafoss is certainly unusual, especially for those who have seen the falls in person or in pictures, but it stands to show photography's unique ability to isolate specific slices of reality.
