Drone photography truly does open up perspectives that are otherwise impossible to achieve. This image of Iceland’s Gufufoss waterfall is both disorienting and beautiful, showcasing a perspective that few have seen before.
When setting up for this shot, the drone was taking a tremendously long time to connect to a GPS signal. I actually fell asleep as I waited — on a rock, next to a roaring river, in broad daylight. Iceland is exhausting.
“Gufufoss” is a fun image to show to others — it is intriguing because it is confusing. Once viewers realize the aerial perspective of the photo, it takes on an entirely different character.
